Former Yankee Settles Dispute with Underwear Company

On Monday, March 7, 2016, Derek Jeter and a marketer of luxury underwear resolved their dispute over legal fees in Delaware’s Court of Chancery. The settlement resolves Jeter’s fight with RevolutionWear Inc. over attorney’s fees stemming from Jeter’s lawsuit seeking declaration that he complied with his obligations to RevolutionWear and that he is entitled to indemnification.

In 2011, Jeter joined the company’s board of directors. RevolutionWear contends that an essential element of Jeter’s contract was that he would publicly announce his role in the company. …

Beastie Boys Want to Avoid Pyrrhic Victory, Ask For $2.4 Million from Monster

Over the weekend, the Beastie Boys filed with the SDNY, seeking $2.4 million in legal fees from Monster Energy to pay for their recent copyright infringement litigation.

In June, the world-renowned rap group won $1.7 million in a lawsuit against Monster Energy.  The Beasties claimed, and Monster admitted during trial, that the energy drink producer used five of their songs without authorization in an online marketing video.  The $1.7 million awarded, however, is not enough to cover the extensive legal fees that the band accumulated …

A-Rod Listens to Ex-Con over His Law Firm

Alex Rodriguez is being sued by his lawyer, David Cornwell, for over $380,000 in unpaid legal fees.  Cornwell, a prominent sports attorney, acted as legal counsel for A-Rod during his Biogenesis doping suspension scandal.  Apparently he wasn’t the only one giving A-Rod  legal advice.
