Camille Cosby was set to be deposed in a sexual misconduct and defamation lawsuit filed by seven different accusers against her husband, comedian Bill Cosby, on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Springfield, Massachusetts. In an attempt to block the subpoena, Mrs. Cosby’s attorneys filed a motion to quash the subpoena for the deposition on the basis that information gathered would be protected by the marital privilege. Daily Fantasy Sports in Massachusetts: AG Proposes Regulations Rather Than Prohibition

On Thursday November 19, 2015, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey released proposed regulations for daily fantasy sports (DFS). The proposal follows New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s decision to completely ban the two industry leaders— DraftKings and FanDuel — from accepting wagers from New York residents.

Unlike Schneiderman’s decision, which is currently being questioned in New York state courts, Healey proposes increased regulations rather than a complete prohibition.

DraftKings Hires Former Mass. AG as New Regulations Appear Imminent

In the weeks following the DraftKings-FanDuel daily fantasy sports betting (DFS) scandal, the two companies have maintained their business directions, continuing operations in 44 U.S. states.  On Monday October 19, 2015, however, DraftKings confirmed that it hired former Massachusetts attorney General Martha Coakley as an outside legal advisor on legislative and regulatory matters.

Massachusetts Attorney General To Review Legality of Fantasy Giant DraftKings

The legality of DraftKings Inc., a Boston-based fantasy sports website, will be reviewed by the attorney general of its home state. Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, a well-known supporter of strict casino regulations, was asked about the legality of DraftKings during an interview with State House News Service. Healey told the News Service, “The point is this: This is a new industry. It’s something that we’re reviewing, and we’ll learn more about it.”

Titleist’s Golf Ball IP Litigation: Is There a Dimple Threatening the Case?

An action filed in Spring 2015 by Acushnet, manufacturer of Titleist golf balls, sued ten direct-sale golf companies for patent infringement.  The plaintiff alleged that the defendants were selling golf balls using Titleist’s “triangular dipyramid dimple pattern.”  The pattern has 318 dimples made up of three different dimple sizes and arranged in a particular triangular pattern.

The link between the defendants is that each company purchased their golf balls from the same Taiwanese company before reselling them to customers through direct internet sales.  …

Brandon Spikes Now Unemployed, Facing Criminal Charges

After a mysterious scene on a Boston highway, Brandon Spikes finds himself without a job and facing criminal charges. At around 3:20 a.m. on June 7, Massachusetts State Police responded to an abandoned vehicle on I-495 in Foxborough. The vehicle had significant front-end damage and was left in the median.
