Two Former NFL Players Dispute Rightful Ownership of Miami Property

On August 2, 2018, a judge denied an “emergency motion” requesting a temporary injunction to prevent a Miami property purportedly owned by former NFL player, Antonio Bryant, from being conveyed to a third party by another former NFL player, Chuck Sanders.  Bryant filed the motion after claiming that Sanders forged Bryant’s signature on a 2012 deed to himself, and in February 2018, inappropriately conveyed Bryant’s North Miami Beach parcel to a Pennsylvania company called DTT North LLC (“DTT”).

David Beckham Takes Another Step to MLS Expansion in Miami

David Beckham’s goal to obtain an expansion Major League Soccer (MLS) team took a step closer to becoming reality. According the Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, Beckham has signed a nonbinding letter of intent to buy a property in downtown Miami to house a stadium. The land is adjoining to a private lot that Beckham and his ownership group have previously secured. Beckham is proposing a 30,000-seat stadium in the Overtown area. Dolphins Owner Proposes New Deal to Fund Stadium Renovations

Miami Dolphins owner Steve Ross has come up with a new proposal to fund the $400 million renovations to Sun Life Stadium.  Last year, Ross asked for government assistance to fund nearly all of the cost.  However, now Ross says he is willing to privately finance the renovations if the team can stop paying property taxes on the stadium.

Ross has been pushing for government assistance since acquiring 95% ownership of the Dolphins in 2009.  That push was heightened in 2012 when Miami was in …
