Bears Cornerback Tim Jennings Arrested: DUI, Speeding

Posted by

Chicago’s Tim Jennings was arrested on Wednesday in Georgia for driving under the influence and speeding as well as reckless driving (you can learn more from Louisiana Speeding Ticket Lawyer and how they handle cases such as this).  Initially, he was stopped for driving 99 mph in a 65-mph zone.  Jennings reportedly told the officer that he was late for a parent-teacher conference.  Then the arresting officer “noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and began a DUI investigation.  Ultimately, Jennings was charged with speeding, DUI, and reckless driving.  He was taken into custody and transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center without incident,” according to Corporal Jake Smith, the Gwinnett County police public information officer.

The incident report further indicated when the officer asked about his last alcohol intake, he said he had stopped drinking around 2 A.M.  Additionally, when the officer requested Jennings to take a breathalyzer test, he declined to take the test and other sobriety tests including “the 9 step walk and the one leg stand.”

While apologizing for speeding, Jennings denied driving under the influence as he tweeted Wednesday night,

“I do apologize for speeding, but DUI?? That’s not me!! Sorry for speeding guys! — Tim Jennings (@HennOrJenn26).”

After about three hours, Jennings was released on bond.

Chicago Bears in a statement acknowledged Jennings’ arrest but did not comment any further.

Jennings finished his fifth season in Chicago.  He played 16 games this season and had 50 tackles and 7 passes defended.
