Football Coach Suspended for On-Field Prayer Gets High-Profile Support While Awaiting Supreme Court Writ

On August 1st, Bobby Bowden, retired Florida State University football coach, submitted an amicus curiae brief to the Supreme Court in support of Joseph Kennedy’s appeal to allow the high school coach to pray with his football players on the field immediately after games. Bowden argued that denying Kennedy the opportunity for on-field prayer is an infringement on religious freedom.

FSU Settles Civil Suit with Winston Accuser

On Monday, January 25, 2016, it was announced that Florida State University had agreed to settle a federal lawsuit against it with former student Erica Kinsman for a purported $950,000.

Kinsman had filed the lawsuit against the school in January 2015 on Title IX grounds, spawning from allegations made by her accusing former FSU and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback Jameis Winston of sexual assault. Not Enough Evidence to Charge Winston in Rape Accusation

Florida State University Quarterback, Jameis Winston, will not face any discipline from Florida State University stemming from the 2012 rape accusation brought against him after he was cleared of any conduct code violations.
