NFL Hit With Another Concussion Lawsuit

On Wednesday November 11, 2015, the son of former professional football player Art DeCarlo brought a wrongful death suit against the National Football League in New York State Supreme Court on behalf of his father’s estate. The son chose to file an individual suit rather than participate in the contested concussion settlement agreement reached between the NFL and former players for more than $765 million. The pace of the game is moving quickly in the dispute between New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and daily fantasy sports (“DFS”) industry leaders DraftKings, Inc. and FanDuel, Inc. DraftKings Files Lawsuit Against NY Attorney General Over Fantasy Sports Ruling

On Friday November 13, 2015, daily fantasy sports (DFS) giant DraftKings, Inc. initiated a state court lawsuit against New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

The lawsuit was filed in response to Schneiderman’s November 10, 2015 ruling, which required DraftKings and FanDuel, Inc. (DraftKing’s industry competitor) to cease and desist from accepting DFS wagers from New York State residents. The AG’s ruling implicated only DraftKings and FanDuel, although several other DFS companies exist.

NY Attorney General To Investigate Fantasy Websites

On Tuesday, October 6, 2015, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman began an investigation into DraftKings and FanDuel, the two largest daily fantasy sports websites. The investigation comes as a result of news that the two companies allow their employees, many of which have information not available to the public, to play each other and win large payouts.
