On Thursday December 18, a lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County against two crane companies for injuries arising from an accident on the set of former CBS show ‘Vegas’ last year.
Plaintiff Andrea Krout was working as crane dolly grip on the set of the now canceled ‘Vegas,’ starring Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis, when her hand was pulled into the belt and pulley drive, crushing and almost severing her left thumb on January 8, 2013. Krout was rushed to the hospital where she received a surgically placed pin in her thumb to immobilize it.
The plaintiff crane operator is suing Crane Shot, LLC and Technovision under theories of negligence and strict products liability, claiming the equipment was dangerous and defective. The complaint demands a jury trial, and alleges injuries of permanent scarring, disfigurement, loss of use, and emotional distress. Krout seeks damages of past and future medical expenses in addition to pain and suffering.
The television show also received the thumbs-down treatment when CBS refused to order a second season of the show a few months later, in May of 2013. The crane companies have yet to file a response.
